SMALL BOX, BIG IMPACT

If this box of Burnt Sugar Shortbread could talk,
what stories would it tell?

By chapter, it would reveal a network of relationships essential in bringing Lark products to market. Every purchase of Lark COOKIES FOR GROWN-UPS®  and SAVORY BISCUITS helps to sustain the local economy and beyond. A host of local small businesses provide the goods and services we need to get Lark’s cookies and biscuits from our bakery to your pantry. In short, your purchase of Lark cookies makes a bigger impact than you think.

Small B2B is Best

The chronicles of today’s featured cookie, Burnt Sugar Shortbread, begin humbly in the woman-owned and operated bakery of Lark Fine Foods in Essex, Massachusetts. It’s here that Lark’s talented bakers create award-winning cookies, buttery shortbreads and savory biscuits. With an uncompromising commitment to quality, we use only the finest natural ingredients supplied to us by an all-star roster of New England based food distributors and confectionary artisans.  Most are family-owned and operated, and have been for generations. Paul Marks in Everett, Shaheen Bros. in Amesbury and Seigel Eggs in Billerica, deliver the foundational ingredients for our innovative recipes. Next, we call on Sparrow Foods in East Boston, J.N. Kidds in Weymouth, and Accardi Foods in Medford for distinctive inclusions like bittersweet chocolate, organic coconut, fresh ginger and olives. Our most proprietary ingredients, like the amber shards of caramelized sugar found in the protagonist of today’s story, are the handiwork of Dan Tuck at Tuck’s Candy Factory in Rockport. We are grateful to have gotten to know many of those who deliver these goods to us daily, and as a small token of our appreciation, we send them off with a fresh stash of cookies for the road.

Big Style in a Small Box

Of course top-notch cookies and biscuits require top-notch packaging.  Again we tap local talent for our graphics, branding, photography, customized printing and die-cutting -- all essential to the story of Lark’s Burnt Sugar Shortbread.  Our friends and colleagues at Leland Creative Marketing help us visually communicate the voice of our ‘grown-up’ products; they create eye-catching design and digital content consistent with our brand identity and messaging. The outstanding images on our website are the work of photographers Glen Scott in Beverly, and Leslie Evans of Cape Elizabeth, Maine.  Instagram snaps, including fan-favorite ‘little people’ vignettes are provided by Lorie Brownell of the Novel Eye in Medway. Lark’s stylish and award-winning packaging is printed under the careful watch of DS Graphics in Lowell, and its signature see-through window box is expertly fabricated by Custom Die Cut in Windham, New Hampshire.  The production of our printed marketing material is credited to the incredible patience, and quick speed, of our friends at Daily Printing in Beverly Farms.

Small Box with a Big Finish

If Burnt Sugar Shortbread could talk, there remains adventures yet to share. They'd tell tales of the team who worked hard to create them, and the ‘grown-up’ consumers with a passion for good food who consume them. High-fives for our in-house crew and the small businesses we rely upon to write the chapters for Burnt Sugar Shortbread. We encourage you to buy a box of Lark COOKIES FOR GROWN-UPS® and SAVORY BISCUITS … a most delicious way to support your neighbors and their businesses.
